Can you please move?

As women, we sometimes have a tendency to become overly dominant in certain situations. When a child faces a difficulty, our immediate response is to seek out a caregiver or doctor, scour the internet for solutions, and so on. Neglecting the issue is not an option, as we fear the consequences of doing so. At times, we may initially ignore the problem, hoping it will resolve on its own. But once we have some basic understanding of the issue, we go into action mode. We keep ourselves busy with dates or interviews, hoping to avoid facing the essence of the problem or the questions that challenge us. We get so caught up in doing and fixing that we forget to take a step back and look inward

But according to Rabeinu Behayeye, the 11th century philosopher and author of Duties of the Heart, we should be diving deep into faith and trust in God. In the Jewish tradition, the idea of the "godly soul" and the "animal soul" represents the dichotomy between our higher, more spiritual self and our more earthly, primal self (This will be further addressed later in the book). The space between these two selves, known as the "empty space," is where we can connect with the Divine. But in order to do so, we must first acknowledge our own limitations and recognize that we are not in control of everything. We are 100% responsible for putting in the effort, but 0% responsible for the outcome. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, things just don't work out the way we want them to. And you know what? That's okay! We're not in charge of the outcome - that's in God's hands.

We must remember that we don't control all the outcomes. Of course, that doesn't mean we should just sit back and let life happen. We still need to put in the effort and do our best, but we can't control everything.

Let's embrace the space between our spiritual and primal selves, and dive deep into faith and trust in the Divine. Instead of stressing over outcomes we can't control, let's put in our best effort and let the universe do its thing. Trust the process, and find peace in knowing that we're not alone.
